Privacy Policy

STANTON BEACON (stanton-beacon.com) is a non-profit fan project for the Star Citizen community. We are not affiliated with Cloud Imperium Games, Roberts Space Industries or Discord. This policy explains, in plain language, what data we handle and why.
What data we collect
The site works without an account for browsing. You only provide data if you choose to sign in with Discord. In that case, we receive from Discord only what the identify scope allows:
- your Discord ID (to recognize your account when you return);
- your Discord username / display name (becomes your initial "handle" on the site, which you can edit);
- your Discord avatar URL.
We do not receive your email or your Discord password. We do not ask for, see or store that information.
What we keep and why
When you create your account we keep: the handle (editable display name), the Discord ID, the avatar URL, an optional bio you write yourself, your language preference, your community role (member/moderator/admin) and the creation and last-access dates. We use this data only to keep you signed in and to show your profile in the site's community areas.
Creator platform data (YouTube, Twitch and Kick)
If — and only if — you choose to sign up as a creator and connect a channel, we use the platform’s OAuth authorization (Google/YouTube, Twitch or Kick) to access read-only data from your channel. This connection is optional; the rest of the site works without it.
- What we access: on YouTube, via the
youtube.readonlyscope, we read your channel ID, title/@ and public subscriber count (to prove the channel is yours and list it in the directory). On Twitch/Kick, the channel identifier and follower count. We do not read emails, private messages, non-public content or third-party data. - Why: solely to verify channel ownership and show its public information on your creator page (live embed, follower/subscriber count). We do not use this data for advertising, profiling or any purpose unrelated to that feature.
- How we protect it: all communication uses HTTPS/TLS; the OAuth token travels and is used only on the server (never in other people’s browsers) and is not shared. We store only the minimum (channel ID, @/name and a snapshot of the count) in our database, with access restricted to the application.
- Retention and deletion: you can disconnect the channel at any time from the creator panel — this removes the channel data from our database and stops using the token. Deleting your creator profile also removes it. You can also revoke access directly in your Google/Twitch/Kick account.
Stanton Beacon’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Cookies
We use one essential session cookie (sb_sess) only to keep you signed in — it does not track your browsing on other sites. Your theme preference (light/dark) is stored in your own browser. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking tools. We show no ads.
Sharing
We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties. The game data shown on the site (prices, routes, ships, components) comes from public community APIs, such as UEX and the Star Citizen Wiki, and is not your personal data.
Your rights
At any time you can: access and correct your data by editing your profile; end your session whenever you want with the Sign out button; and request deletion of your account and associated data. For account deletion, reach us through our Discord. We keep your data for as long as your account exists.
Minors
The site is not directed at children under 13. If you are a guardian and believe a minor has provided us with data, contact us so we can remove it.
Changes
We may update this policy as the site evolves. When that happens, we change the date at the top of this page.
