How the mediator works

On big deals, you can hire a mediator: a trusted Stanton Beacon player who provides human custody of the trade inside the game, in person. They join your party, check everything along the way and only release the delivery once payment is confirmed — cutting the risk of a scam on a high-value trade.

⚖ Stanton Beacon never touches real money or in-game credit — the mediator is a person, and everything happens inside Star Citizen in aUEC.
🛡️
Hiring a mediator is a benefit of the support plans (Supporter, Ally or Patron) and is only available on deals above 600,000 aUEC. Below that value, the option doesn't even appear in the negotiation.
How much it costs

10% of the value, paid in aUEC inside the game

The mediator's fee is 10% of the deal value, paid in aUEC within Star Citizen itself. Since the mediator's payout to the seller goes through the game's transfer, add the RSI fee of 0.5% on that payout — charged on top, so the seller receives the value clean. Example of a 980,000 aUEC item:

Item value980,000 aUEC
+ Mediator (10%)98,000 aUEC
+ RSI fee (0.5% of payout)4,900 aUEC
You send in-game1,082,900 aUEC
The game still adds the send fee on the SEND screen (real cost ≈ 1,088,315). The seller receives the item value clean; the mediator receives the 10% + the payout fee.
Step by step
You request a mediator in the offer
When you make an offer on a listing above 600K aUEC, tick "I want a mediator". The request enters an open queue — the seller isn't notified yet. If it takes a while, you can withdraw the request at any time and continue without a mediator.
An eligible mediator accepts
A mediator from the queue signs the acceptance sheet (they see the parties, reputation, language/time zone and the exact amount they'll receive). Only then is the seller notified and the mediation begins, with the clock running.
You agree where and when
The mediator picks the server/region (EU, USA, AUS or ASIA) and sets the trade in their hangar, in a non-PVP area (neutral ground). Only the three take part.
Safety checklist before any payment
The mediator completes a 10-item checklist (below). The "money received" button only unlocks with 10/10 ticked.
You pay, the mediator verifies
You send the aUEC. The mediator only marks "money received" after visually confirming its arrival in the mobiGlas, with a screenshot — never on your word.
Delivery in a container
The mediator delivers the items in a storage container (box/SCU) straight to your inventory, avoiding loss on the ground, and logs the evidence.
Completion and rating
One side marks "completed", the other confirms. Then comes the mandatory mutual rating — it's what feeds everyone's reputation (and unlocks your next listing/deal).
The safety checklist (10/10)
Required before releasing payment
  1. Contact with the seller finalized — invited and accepted into the party.
  2. Contact with the buyer finalized — invited and accepted into the party.
  3. Server/region chosen by the mediator (EU / USA / AUS / ASIA).
  4. Location in a non-PVP area (Stanton and/or Nyx, armistice zone).
  5. Trade set in the mediator's hangar (neutral ground).
  6. Identities checked: in-game name = RSI handle registered on the site (both).
  7. Only the three in the party/hangar — no third party.
  8. CrimeStat = 0 checked for all three before any in-person step.
  9. Item inspected by the mediator before authorizing payment.
  10. Delivery via storage container to the buyer's inventory.
Server crash midway: pause, reschedule from the panel and re-validate from item 3.
The safeguards
🧍
Physical presence
The mediator shows up at the trade location inside the game and validates the delivery in person — chat-only mediation doesn't count.
🎥
Evidence
Photo and video (by link) reviewed by moderation. Valid proof earns the mediator a reputation bonus; forged proof is punished.
Separate mediator reputation
The mediator has their own score (average + number of completed mediations), visible in the queue and on the profile. Mediating well doesn't inflate a seller score.
⚖️
Protected dispute
Either party can contest the outcome or the mediator's conduct. The deal goes into dispute, the points are frozen and Senior Moderation decides based on the evidence.
Mediator deadlines
24h
to start
12h
to reply to the parties
7 days
to complete

If the mediator blows a deadline, the deal returns to the queue, they lose the fee and get a warning with a reputation drop. If you (or the other party) don't respond or run very late at the agreed time, the mediator can "Cancel for No-show": they aren't penalized and whoever missed takes the penalty. CIG network stalls (up to 15 min of waiting) trigger a neutral cancellation, with no harm to anyone.

Stanton Beacon does not take part in or take responsibility for negotiations. We are the board, the record and the reputation ruler — the negotiation and delivery happen between players, inside Star Citizen. The mediator is an optional player-to-player service. Recommendation: always deal with those who have higher reputation and more completed deals.
